So we’ve been teased with Dede music for a while, but we’re glad to finally have a full release. Her first single ‘Give In To You’ made playlist spins on BBC Radio 1Xtra & BBC Radio Merseyside, and she is back with former-Depeche Mode member Alan Wilder, so our thoughts?

The song is great. I honestly believe single’s from new artist should do nothing but showcase the vocal talents of the artist in the purist fashion possible. (think Sade’s “Your Love Is King or Whitney’s “Saving All My Love for You.”)

Written by the Dede herself, her team have wisely gone for a stripped-down piano feature (played by Wilder) which allows Dede to command the tempo and and display an extensive vocal range mixed with a fluidity and tone purity that hits you from the chorus onwards.

The harmony does invoke comparisons to a Conya Doss or Quadron’s Coco song format of ‘just’ unfiltered vocal prowess, which is refreshing in this era of nursery rhyme verses and misogynistic choruses.

The video follows this same theme, focusing on the artist and nothing more, giving the feel of an acoustic showcase. Impressive.

So, our next question is what’s next from this obviously talented vocalist? Whatever it is I know we won’t be calling the clock too early on this one.
